Our philosophy of care

"Family therapy is about building understanding, and amplifying the resources of the group in working together to overcome the eating disorder."
Newbridge House provides comprehensive, holistic care to support the development of each person as an individual, as well as treating their eating disorder.
Personal treatment
Every service user is given a personal treatment programme, based on an assessment of their unique needs. A key worker is allocated to each person to provide continuous support and co-ordination of all treatment and care.
Family centred approach
We recognise that when working with young people, treatment must include and support the young person’s family. Family therapy plays a key part in the programme we provide and we place a great emphasis upon communicating with families and enabling them to play a positive role in treatment.
Normalising cooking and eating
We encourage everyone to become involved in the preparation and cooking of meals in our domestic kitchen. The aim is to normalise cooking and eating and provide service users with the skills to feed themselves prior to discharge.
Education
There is a qualified teacher who provides individually-tailored lessons on site as part of a full educational programme. Some people will attend college, supported in their studies by our resident teacher.
Adult service users
Adult service users will be treated in age-specific programmes, appropriate for their maturity.
Leaving Newbridge
We are committed to providing all the planning and support needed for the transition from Newbridge House to day care. This is a time when people can be vulnerable to relapse. We will ensure everyone has a comprehensive package of care in place before they leave our inpatient care. We will liaise with all the care teams responsible for supporting people leaving Newbridge House, ensuring they have all the information required to provide the right programme for the next stage of care.
