Professor Hubert Lacey is to deliver a key presentation on eating disorders at a major conference for health professionals and employers.
The 2010 Health and Well Being conference at Birmingham's NEC is a free information sharing event to promote well being and positive practice in the workplace.
Professor Lacey, Clinical Director of Newbridge, leads St George's Hospital Eating Disorders service, the largest unit of its kind in the UK and is a recognised authority throughout the UK and internationally.
The presentation on March 10 will look at how eating disorders manifest within the work environment and how they might be recognised. Professor Lacey will also examine why these conditions have developed over the last forty years by looking at the cultural, biological and political agenda that have driven their presentation. Most particularly, he will seek to answer the question: "Why Women?" The presentation will conclude by reference to new treatments which are showing hopeful promise.
