Janine Kenny and Emma Blackburn were inspired to play their part in helping Beat to help people with eating disorders and raise wider awareness.

Janine, aged 25 and Emma, aged 22, will take the leap on October 9th at Whitchurch Airfield in Shropshire.

They will plunge the first 5,000 ft in freefall, at speeds reaching 120mph.

Newbridge House has close links with Beat, having previously worked with one of Beat’s young ambassadors, Claire Glenton to raise awareness of young people’s experiences of eating disorders.

Janine came up with the idea during her induction programme at Newbridge House 18 months ago.

“I read a lot about eating disorders from the Beat website and found it really valuable and helpful. It was at that stage that I decided I wanted to do something to support Beat and their work.

“I think we have an adventurous streak in our family. My brother has done a sky dive and I’ve been paragliding.

“Our patients are really supportive and have made a poster to help us to fundraise, and all the staff are sponsoring us and Newbridge have given us £200 towards the dive, so it is very much a team effort involving staff and patients.”
