Newbridge House manager Diane Cook has been a mental health nurse for 36 years, specialising in the care and treatment of people with eating disorders. Diane has extensive psychotherapy and counselling experience with individuals and groups affected by eating disorders, self harm and post-traumatic stress disorder.


Diane has managed specialist eating disorders units in both the NHS and private sector, with responsibilities for risk assessment, supervision, development of treatment programmes, liaison with all relevant professionals and staff training.


As Clinical Manager for Worcestershire Eating Disorders Service, Diane set up a comprehensive, nurse-led service for the assessment and treatment of people with eating disorders throughout the county. Diane was Unit Manager at Ashleigh House, Althea Park Specialist Services where she was responsible for the day-to-day management of a residential care home for people with complex eating disorders.


Diane’s experience encompasses the development of new services, delivering and monitoring services and ensuring all staff are trained to provide the highest standards of care for people with eating disorders.

Diane has published chapters relating to eating disorders and post traumatic stress disorders (PTSD)[1]. She has also been commissioned to write about the treatment of people with complex (PTSD)[2]. Diane has held two tenures as honorary lecturer at the University of Birmingham and has been the external examiner for the University of Central England’s masters’ course in counselling and psychotherapy.
