Nigel Glaze

Nigel Glaze is a highly motivated Family Therapist (UKCP registered) with twenty years' clinical psychotherapeutic experience, working with individuals with eating disorders and their families.
He has an extensive knowledge (eight years' full time) of working as a family therapist, helping young people with severe eating disorders who are being treated in an inpatient unit. Prior to that he worked as part of the community adult (17-65) eating disorders service in Warwickshire, helping people overcome the long term debilitating effects of a chronic eating disorder.
Nigel is professionally qualified in both systemic and psychodynamic models of therapy, and additionally has become familiar with a range of therapeutic methods appropriate to working with people with eating disorders. These include: multi-family therapy, transdiagnostic CBT, motivational interviewing and ‘mentalizing’ when working with people eating disorders who use self harm.
Nigel is a good communicator with a collaborative style of practice being both rigorous and creative in the sessions he provides. It would not be unknown for family members in his sessions to get involved in writing lists and drawing diagrams on the wipe board.
He has written about ethical issues and the therapists’ use of ‘self’ having additionally published book reviews, case reviews and articles in family therapy and eating disorder journals.
