The next event in the well-received Newbridge House Master Class series will be a day focused on eating disorders in boys and men.

The speaker at the event, which takes place on Friday, June 27, will be Professor John F Morgan, who has played a leading role in highlighting and researching male eating disorders.

Prof Morgan’s book, The Invisible Man, is the first self-help book for men with eating disorders and he advises the UK government on policies pertaining to treatment access for male eating disorders.

This is the third in the Master Class series, conceived with the principle of inviting national and international experts to Newbridge to provide high quality training. Each event is open to both Newbridge and external ED clinicians, thus allowing practitioners to train together, share experiences and build links between different services.

Topics of the day will include primary prevention of eating disorders in boys, compulsive exercise and muscle dysmorphia and cultural challenges for boys and men.

The trainer will present recent research, the challenges of identifying eating disorders in boys, motivation and obstacles to recovery, including those arising from the clinical services themselves. There will be many case scenarios and participants will be invited to share and reflect on their own professional experiences.
