In this section, we publish reports and inspections providing an independent, professional assessment of the service we provide at Newbridge House. This section also includes information and updates about all the quality assurance work we do, such as improvements in patient information and patient involvement initiatives.

Safe recruitment policy

Newbridge House operates a recruitment policy which incorporates all relevant safeguarding guidance applicable to the specific service we provide. “A safe recruitment policy is about much more than carrying out CRB checks,” explains Sue Senior, quality assurance lead for Newbridge House. “Safeguarding must be integrated within every aspect of recruitment, training and staff support on a continuous basis. This focus reflects our commitment to best practice in all aspects of recruitment, training and high quality service provision.”

News: Wholly positive CQC report praises all aspects of care at Newbridge House

Newbridge House has received an outstanding inspection report from the Care Quality Commission, which is wholly positive in every aspect.

News: Patient involvement initiative

Young people undergoing inpatient treatment at Newbridge House have been invited to observe and reflect on the staff recruitment process. This is part of our ongoing commitment to patient involvement and ensuring we constantly reflect upon and incorporate feedback from our patients. Although the patients were not involved in asking questions or scoring responses, they were asked to reflect on how well they thought candidates may relate to young people.

News: ‘Headspace’ and ‘Getting to know me’ introduced to enhance patient experience

Newbridge House has recently reviewed all aspects of consent and patient information within our service. Following that review, we have introduced these two initiatives to help young patients undergoing inpatient care to better understand and engage with the treatment process and to help all staff involved with their care to understand each patient on a wholly individual basis.

Overall report summary
Following an unannounced inspection on September 25 2013, Newbridge House was judged to be meeting every standard assessed in the wide-ranging inspection.

Overall report summary
The Care Quality Commission visited Newbridge House in March 2013 to assess five key standards. Care quality and planning were praised in the inspection, which also found key standards in recruitment, training and safety were being met.

Care Quality Commission Review • March 2012

Overall report summary
Newbridge House is meeting the required standards in all key areas of quality and safety. As part of this review, the CQC contacted the NHS authority which commissions Newbridge to provide services. They said: “We have only positive experiences with people who go to Newbridge House.”

“We felt that Newbridge House was an impressive example of a specialist eating disorder unit which was providing a good quality of care in a pleasant and homely environment. As a review team, we were made to feel very welcome and we were impressed with the generally positive feedback about the service from both young people and parents.”
